How to Compress Images Without Losing Visible Quality
Compress ImageShrink photos for email, websites and forms. Free, no sign-up.Photos from phones are often 3–8 MB, far more than a website, email or upload form needs. Most of that size can go without any difference you would notice on screen.
Compress to a target size
- Open Compress Image and drop one or more images.
- Choose a quality, or switch to target size and enter something like
200KB. - Download each image, or all of them as a
.zip.
With a target size, the tool finds the highest quality that still fits. Everything happens on your device, so private photos are never uploaded.
The two things that matter most
1. Pixel size. A 4000-pixel-wide photo shown 1200 pixels wide wastes most of its data. Set a maximum width, or use Resize Image first. Halving the width cuts the file to roughly a quarter.
2. Format.
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| WebP | Websites and apps: usually the smallest at the same quality. |
| JPG | Photos that must open everywhere, including old software. |
| PNG | Screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp text or transparency. |
Saving a photo as PNG makes it much larger, not smaller. Use Image Converter to switch formats.
When an image is still too big
If even a low quality setting does not reach your target, the image is simply too large in pixels. Lower the maximum width and try again.
Batch work
You can drop dozens of images at once. Afterwards, Save to Workstand keeps the compressed copies in your Images folder, ready to attach to a project.
