Free, no sign-up. Runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded.
Your files are opened and processed by your browser on this device. They are never uploaded to openWorkstand or anyone else, so the Compress PDF is safe for contracts, IDs, photos and work documents, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded. How local processing works
Many email services refuse attachments over 20–25 MB. Choose Recommended and compare the new size shown before you download. Still too big? Try Strong, turn on grayscale for black-and-white scans, or send only the pages that matter with Split PDF.
Forms that accept only 1 or 2 MB usually need Strong compression for scans. Text-only PDFs are already small; if one barely shrinks, check whether it contains large images and split those pages off instead. Keep the original file for your records.
It is probably mostly text. Try a stronger level for scans and photos, or send only the pages that are needed with Split PDF.
Check that it is one of the supported formats above and opens in another app. Damaged files and password-protected PDFs cannot be read until they are repaired or unlocked.
Everything runs on your device, so speed depends on its memory. Close other tabs, use a computer rather than a phone, or split the file into smaller parts first.
Look for your browser’s download bar or icon. Some browsers ask once before a site may download files; allow it and click the button again.
Light compression rewrites the file more efficiently and keeps everything selectable. Recommended and strong compression redraw each page as an optimized image, which shrinks scans dramatically; text then becomes part of the image.
PDFs made of plain text are already tiny. Big savings come from scanned pages and photos. Try the strong level for scans.
No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never leave your computer or phone, and there is no file size limit other than your device’s memory.
After you download, choose “Save to Workstand” to keep the result in a folder on your computer, attach it to a project and create a follow-up task. It is saved by your browser, not uploaded.
