How to Sign a PDF Online for Free (Draw, Type or Upload)
Sign PDFDraw or type your signature and place it on a PDF. Free, no sign-up.Printing a document just to sign it and scan it again takes time and makes the file worse. You can place your signature directly on the PDF instead.
Sign in three steps
- Open Sign PDF and choose your document.
- Create your signature: draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus, type it in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature.
- Place it on the page, add the date or your initials if needed, and download the signed PDF.
The PDF is opened and changed by your own browser. It is not uploaded, which is the safest way to handle contracts and personal documents.
Tips for a clean signature
- Drawing on a phone usually looks more natural than with a mouse.
- Uploading a photo: sign on white paper with a dark pen, take the photo in good light, and crop it tightly.
- Want a reusable image? Create a transparent PNG with the Signature Generator and keep it in your workstand.
Is it legally binding?
In many countries a simple electronic signature like this is accepted for everyday agreements such as rental forms, consent forms and freelance contracts. Some documents require a certified digital signature or a witness. If you are unsure, check the rules that apply to the document and your country.
After signing
- Keep the signed copy separate from the original.
- If the document is sensitive, protect it with a password before emailing it.
- Save it to your workstand and attach it to the project or client it belongs to, so you can find it later.
