PDF to WordTurn a PDF into an editable Word document. Free, no sign-up.

You received a contract, form or old report as a PDF and need to change it. Converting it to Word gives you editable paragraphs instead of fixed pages.

Convert in your browser

  1. Open PDF to Word and choose a PDF that contains real text.
  2. Click Convert.
  3. Download the .docx file and open it in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or the free online word processor.

The conversion runs on your device, so the document never leaves your computer.

What to expect

The goal is a clean document you can edit, not a pixel-perfect copy of the page.

If you only need the words, for example to paste into an email or a note, PDF to Text is faster and gives you plain text.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No. A scanned PDF is a picture of a page; there is no text inside it to extract. You can tell by trying to select a word in your PDF reader: if nothing highlights, it is a scan. For scans you need OCR (text recognition) first, or you can retype the parts you need.

Edit, then save the right format

  1. Make your changes in the word processor.
  2. Save as .docx if others will keep editing it.
  3. Export back to PDF when the document is final, so the layout cannot shift for the recipient.

In openWorkstand, documents are saved as real .docx files in your own folder. You can link the document to a project and turn highlighted text into tasks, for example a clause you still have to check.
